Vilgax's Ship, also known as the Chimeran Hammer,[1] is a location in Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall and its fan revivals. It refers to three identially-named Fusion Lairs set onboard Vilgax's personal interstellar cruiser.

Area description[]

Vilgax's Ship is a unique type of Fusion Lair. The entire layout of all three editions of this area consists of metallic hallways with yellow-brown walls that have advanced circuit-based lines along them, gray floors, and yellow-orange headlights on the celling. In addition, various metallic boxes can be found throughout them. The second and third edition of Vilgax's Ship also have pits of Fusion Matter covering entire floors and magenta-colored mana platforms set up by Gwen.

The first edition of Vilgax's Ship has a fairly straightforward layout with three short dead ends, each of which hold a Megawhatt. At the end is an embodiment of Ben's Chromastone alterego trapped in a cylinder. The layout for the second edition of the ship consists mainly of one path, but with a number of ledges and shafts to scale using Gwen's mana platforms, that leads to another containment cylinder filled with embodiments of Ben's Echo Echo alterego. Lastly, the third edition of Vilgax's Ship is somewhat of a combination of the two latter. However, this one starts out near Ben (as Echo Echo) and leads through the ship into a crossroad of shorts for three additional hallways, with the two paths on each side here leading into a dead end with an Echo Echo duplicate at the end, and the third one leading to a cylinder with an embodiment of Ben's Ultimate Swampfire alterego trapped inside it.

All three editions of Vilgax's Ship have a warp portal at both ends of their layouts. These warp portals take the form of mana portals in the shape of magenta energy domes with the Charm of Luck floating in their centers.

The Past[]

In the Past, having discovered that Vilgax was behind the sabotage of Ben's Omnitrix and that his interference was allowing him to keep embodiments of Ben's alien alteregos trapped onboard his ship, the Avatar was sent to Vilgax's Ship to foil his scheme with a multi-staged plan arranged by Paradox.

As the first part of this plan, the Avatar arrived onboard Vilgax's Ship after a number of Megawhatts had been set loose on it and taken out its shields. The Avatar's mission was then to sabotage whatever Vilgax was doing to interfere with the Omnitrix. Meanwhile, Kevin would monitor the security systems and guide the Avatar through their NanoCom. Along the way, the Avatar had to use some lightbulbs given to them by Kevin to recapture three Megawhatts onboard the ship in order to keep them from Vilgax. Eventually, the Avatar found the trapped embodiment of Chromastone in a cylinder and sabotaged the systems keeping it trapped. With their mission completed, the Avatar returned to Kevin.[2]

For the next recue of another of Ben's alien alteregos, Gwen had the Avatar return to Vilgax's Ship. However, because the next section of the ship would be harder to navigate, Gwen used her magic to create mana platform onboard the ship for the Avatar to use. Despite the many dangers onboard Vilgax's Ship, the Avatar managed to get through every obstacle and slip through the reactivated defense systems before reaching another cylinder with embodiments of Echo Echo contained within it. After freeing these aliens, the Avatar left the ship and returned to Gwen.[3]

The next step of Paradox's plan had the Avatar return to Vilgax's Ship to rescue another one of Ben's alien alteregos. This time, however, Ben joined them on their mission, since Gwen and Kevin had their hands full things such as Vilgax's security measures and maintaining mana portals and platforms. Upon arriving there, Ben used the Omnitrix to become Echo Echo and used its duplication power to search more areas while the Avatar dealt with the defenses and searched for likely places where his trapped alien alterego could be. Upon discovering Bioid Echo Echos onboard the ship though, Ben suspected Vilgax was up to something, and so had the Avatar scan the bioids with their NanoCom while taking some of them out. Meeting up with Ben afterwards, Ben figured out from the Avatar's discoveries that the bioids must be hijacking the Omnitrix's signal from Primus. Instructed by Ben to get a receiver from a bioid, the Avatar accomplished their task and met up with Ben again, who was certain Kevin could use the device to disrupt the signal Vilgax was using to hijack the Omnitrix. The Avatar then resumed their original task, and soon found the trapped embodiment of Ultimate Swampfire, whom they freed before returning home.[4]

Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall[]

  • On 19 April 2010, Vilgax's Ship was added to the game.[5]

Origin[]

Cartoon-Vilgax's-Ship

Vilgax's Ship, from Ben 10: Alien Force.

The Chimeran Hammer originates from the 2005 American animated series Ben 10 and its follow-up series. In that media, it is a widely infamous battlecruiser and the primary place of residence for Vilgax. In addition to being capable of speedy interplanetary travel, it is armed with various weapons, including laser turrets, ballistic cannons, and a massive prong-like laser cannon on the front. It also comes equipped with shields. The majority of the crew onboard the Chimeran Hammer are robots because most organic beings are too scared to work for Vilgax, the major exception being Psyphon.

With Vilgax having possessed the Chimeran Hammer for at least as long back as 1773, the space cruiser was destroyed in the late 1970s during a confrontation between Vilgax and Max Tennyson. In the present day, a rebuild Chimeran Hammer was used by Vilgax to pursue Xylene's ship for her cargo: the Omnitrix. During this chase, the Chimeran Hammer and Vilgax suffered a critical blow while the Omnitrix was sent jettisoned to Earth. The Chimeran Hammer subsequently remained in Earth's orbit until Vilgax had recovered from the attack and went after the Omnitrix himself. However, the Chimeran Hammer was destroyed again during the Tennyson family's attack on the vessel. Six years later, the Chimeran Hammer returned again, only to be destroyed during a battle between Ben and Vilgax.
