  • If you look at the most recent comments on the "IMPORTANT OPEN AND READ" post, you will see that we are talking about a possible remake of FF. It's crazy, I know, but we want this game back and whoever is reading this does too. Wilt, we need you. We also need all of you. If you can 3D model, volunteer. If you prefer drawing designs for things they can make, volunteer with a design. Now... The question is: Will we do this, or will we not?

3.movement (custom animation scripting for every movement such as jump, run, dash + nano enhancements + vehicle enhancements)

How do you know, I have mastered Javascript I know HTML DOM,Ruby and am mastering C#

        Loading editor
    • Let's add  AJAX & PHP and don't pretend like a kid can't learn programming.I am learning....and basic scripting don't just say anything.You don't know me.

        Loading editor
    • "mastered" Each language takes an average of 2 years to fully master. This means already that you were at least programming at that age of 9. Lets say it was only a year. You were programming at 11. To actually "know" a language well enough to actually do a good job would take a average of 6 months. Which means you were programming since you were 9 or 10. I still do not think you have "mastered" 2 languages. Do you know how to create a C# program that can inject user SCRIPTS into a .exe or web browsed game? Do you know in Javascript how to take a .swf that is multiplayer such as Club Penguin and modify it so you can do whatever you want yet still be online? A highly doubt you do. Both of those are above basic to do. Being "mastered" means you would most likely already been to college so you can learn MORE than what you can in books and most youtube tutorials, already have some experince working on a semi-major project, and can before almost any task in that language. Now for the HTLM, DOM, and Ruby parts. Those are some of the most easiest languages to learn. HTML is basic and Ruby is close to just getting out of basic. DOM is I remember right like CSS is a branch of HTML and if I remember right its the hardest of the 3. My 9th grade class and I learned most HTML is one semester of doing it and spent the other semester doing projects and learning a few stuff we missed, its not that hard. I would commend you for KNOWING 5 languages at the age of 13, most people would, but it really isn't that hard. A hacker I knew who is currently 14 and a great hacker, not much a programmer though, knows Python, C#, C++, VB.NET, HTML, Java, CSS, and Ruby. He will not consider himself mastered but he will say he knows the basics and can use logical reasoning to figure out what to do. That is most likely what you are like but for a project like making a game its going to take a little more studying for you to know. Game programming is far different that just knowing the language. I know im going to get critized hard for saying all this by just 1 person at least but you are not mastered in anything, you know most likely not basic but not advance programming. The ones you say you "know" you are most likely in advance because those languages are that easy. I would believe you more if you reversed the "knows" and "mastered". If you know how to accomplish the 2 tasks above then I might consider you good because those are simple to do but its not easy for someone who only knows above-basic script writting.

Any coders who still care about Fusionfall have no way of using the game's resources at this point, and that'd be illegal anyway. What makes you think any of these "coders" are actaully capable of programming in unity? Even if they are, that's not enough to make a decent game. I was suprised Wikipedia CARED about FF in 2012 and 2013

        Loading editor
    • All it takes is one person who cared enough to update the page.  As long as there is no slanderous or directly contentious content, Wikipedia doesn't care enough to block any entry.  FusionFall was a popular enough game to warrant "notability." On the other hand, such a statement is by no means equivalent to an official, unambiguously worded communique from Cartoon Network.

While it is true that CN announced that it had permanently shut down its FusionFall servers, a statement like that could conceivably be tweaked to include the possibility of a new, reconstituted FusionFall.  Such a thing is, of course, highly unlikely, especially when there is no organization, no unity, and no patience among those who would seek it.  Still, bigger companies than CN have given in to consumer pressure.

My main point is "Don't rely on hearsay.  It's not real evidence.  Go to the primary sources."

        Loading editor
    •   Me and My Brother Can Get People To Know about Fusion Fall Remaking, On Youtube you should see all THE BRING BACK FUSION FALL videos or GoodBye Fusion Fall videos. I think you can guys can remake Fusion Fall with the help on Devint Art or Google Imanges and You just need CN to sign  you over the rights to FusionFall and you are able to make it

        Loading editor
    • Cartoon Network will never sign over the rights to FusionFall, though they might, if the work is good and cheap enough, be willing to license a fan-created game.  After all, they seem not to have been particularly rabid about enforcing copyright against that Bleedman Powerpuff Girls doujinshi, and, if I understand correctly, even invited him to contribute to FF. Even the idea of licensing, though, is very doubtful.

Frankly, I am not sure I would want the rights handed over to any old group of fans. I like FusionFall the way it was, not necessarily as it would be made.

        Loading editor
    • They own Fusionfall until 2018 which seems appropiate for the fan-made game to be organized and worked on.

    • I find it very hard to believe that Cartoon Network is going to lose the rights to its own characters in a matter of five years.  What exactly is owned by whom until 2018, and what is the source for our knowledge of that?  I could see CN losing the rights to the game itself, but not to the characters in the game; yet the game without the CN characters would scarcely be Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall.

Tone being so hard to convey on the net, let me emphasize that I am not arguing or trying to come up with a clever comeback: I am genuinely curious.  It just seems odd for a copyright to lapse in fewer than ten years. What special circumstances are there in this case?

        Loading editor
    • Cartoon Network Universe: Fusionfall is owned by CN until 2018. All assets and models along with the name Fusionfall are in this copyright.

        Loading editor
    • Thanks, but that doesn't quite answer my question.  Where does this information come from, again?  Is it from the CN site, and if so, could you post the address, please? Or, indeed, the address of any site it is posted on?  If it is private information from a source that would prefer not to be traced, of course, then I can respect confidences.  That is understandable.

    • Presumably it would mean that after 2018, Cartoon Network would be unable to sue any fans using the FusionFall name or concepts for copyright infringement (unless they were to renew the copyright sometime before then).  I still doubt that it would protect anyone using characters like Dexter or Ben Tennyson if CN were inclined to sue; however, as long as they were neither losing money nor being somehow "defamed," I doubt they would do anything about a fan game (unlike Disney, say, who once sued the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and  Sciences for using Snow White in an Oscar skit).

Of  course, it would be vastly preferable if FusionFall were brought back by CN itself.  If anyone knows someone "on the inside," I certainly hope that person can put in a good word for the game, or can at least smuggle some information out to the rest of us as to just what the heck happened.  However, unless the person in question is named "Turner," "Snyder," or "Waldron," I doubt that knowing just one person would avail to restore the game. (I hope I'm wrong, though.)

Sadly, no. Wikipedia states it. (Page) IT WAS MY FAVORITE MMORPG! WHY DID CN REMOVE IT?! I HATE THEM! FFH IS THE WORST IDEA!

They say that all good things must come to an end. Fusionfall is so great, that it had a momentous ending. It will not be shutdown if we keep the memories we have of it. Staying up past midnight playing, showing my friends how to play, hunting Tootie and other blowfishes down, defeating Fuse, selling virtual bread (don`t ask), investigating the Lower and Upper Catacombs, and many more. I was let down when I saw it was shutting down, and even more that I didn`t see it in its final week. Live on, Fusionfall! And its offspring (also don`t ask), Fusionfall Heroes!

    • While it may be true that all good things (and all bad things, too) have to come to an end in this unhappy world, there is no saying that we cannot delay that end a little, or that the things that end can't begin again.  Summer comes; summer goes; there is an Indian summer; summer comes again.  There is no need to live merely on memories, if we make those memories a basis for action.

I'm sure the folks over at PR2.0 are acting in good faith. Though it would be nice to see some examples of their work, they don't need to prove anything to me. Having glanced at their Facebook page, I do wish they would A) work a bit harder on their grammar (of course, a lot of them are non-native English speakers, so it's pretty impressive that they speak as well as they do), B) try to be a bit more polite, good-natured, and positive, and C) keep focused on the game.  (Of course, that applies to many other places and projects than PR2.0). After all, nobody's paying them; it's nice of them to be working on restoring the game at all.  I'm willing to cut them some slack about pace.

Speaking of grammar, if the Project needs a proof-reader for texts, I am available. Only too glad to help in any way I can.

    • In fact, in order to complete the project, you are going to HAVE to publicize Project R 2.0 so that you can get enough suport and programmers so that actual progress can be made. I recommend posting on the Cartoon Network forums, FaceBook, or any other popular and public way to tell people about the project.

Speaking of the shortage of programmers, publicizing Project R 2.0 may draw some needed programmers to us. There is probably a lot more Unity programmers (and programmers in general) that would be happy to work to remake FusionFall.

In the case of the family crisis, I am sorry to whoever has the crisis and whatever the crisis is (I do not intend to get involved or find out what it is about).

    • I can't answer for anyone else, but if you are asking me personally why I prefer trying to revive FusionFall to going off to play one of the other games you mentioned, here are some reasons I would give:

      1. All game-playing is a waste of time, in one sense, in that it accomplishes nothing practical.  It matters very little whether I waste time trying to revive FusionFall, playing Halo, or watching paint dry.

      2. The only sense in which game-playing is not a waste of time is entertainment.  If I am entertained by trying to revive FusionFall, which I am, why shouldn't I stick with that?

      3. I have never played the other games you have mentioned, but I have played FusionFall, and know that I enjoy it.  Why should I waste time looking for something new that I might or might not enjoy?

      4. FusionFall has a nostalgia factor involved in it, which the other games don't.

      5. My own biggest personal reason is that FusionFall is designed around animation and animated series that I am a fan of, which is why I started playing it in the first place.  If there is to be no FusionFall, I would rather sit and watch Youtube videos of Dexter's Lab and Johnny Bravo than play the games you mention.

By the way, thanks for the compliment to my vocabulary, which was unexpected.  I hadn't realized I had used any particularly sophisticated words.  I guess "disparaging" is the closest, but it comes much more naturally to me to say that than, say, "dissing" or "bad-mouthing."  Anyway, I wouldn't want to insult you by "dumbing down" the way I talk, as if I thought you were too stupid to understand anything over two syllables.

If I mistook your meaning, I'm sorry. I understand that you want to keep people from being disappointed by failing in a task that you (not at all unreasonably) believe can’t possibly succeed. But, really, this is just how we have fun. Some people enjoy fishing, some people enjoy soccer, some people like gardening, some like stamp-collecting.  We have fun by tinkering with FusionFall.  That’s all. Okay?

I didn't know the serevers were shut down :(

But, I mean the community can still push if they want to get more besides the dumb Fusionfall - Heroes. Fusionfall Heroes you can't play with friends you play with strangers you can't warp and, stuff. You can't customize characters... A anime or, manga, or even a Video game for consoles would be okay. I just hope that we can make Fanon's good fanon's on

Are there now two groups of people working on a sequel to FusionFall?  Good, good -- a little friendly competition never hurt anything.  I'm actually kind of excited to see what happens. Who knows, if they do a really good job, maybe CN might even hire them to work on an official sequel.  (Yeah, yeah, I know, but a guy can dream, can't he? And if you're gonna dream, dream big! After all, they did try to hire that Bleedman guy, didn't they?)

I miss my FusionFall character, Baron Von Otter, too.  It's weird --  I found out after I made up my character that there really was a Baron Von Otter, that he was the Prime Minister of Sweden, his son was involved with fighting the Nazis, and his granddaughter is a famous soprano.  How cool is that?  And I never had any idea.

Hey, you guys should send pictures of your characters to the gallery, if not here, then over at FanonFall.  Maybe they will inspire some of our programmers.

If i can join in, well... the thing is, CartoonNetwork is busy on other games and plus, they shutdown the game for a really really good reason. Because of Funds, FusionFall is probably not comming back unless people get the Developers' notice or if Cartoonnetwork Fusionfall heros closes, then there might be a slight chance of CartoonNetwork Universe comming back. Just a little suggestion.

    • I'm sorry, Primus; I was trying to be ironical, by stating that the only "Romanian words" I knew were two which are barely Romanian in any sense.  I did happen to know that "Ionescu" was a name -- in fact, I know that Eugen Ionescu was the author of the play Rhinoceros; "nosferatu" has been asserted to be archaic Romanian and refers to a kind of vampire or revenant, but is of extremely dubious provenance. Unfortunately, like most English-speakers, I don't know any Romanian, and very little of Romania; I do happen to know that Ovid was exiled there, while it was still called Dacia, though he didn't appreciate it very well.

Thanks also for the clarification about the names of the various FusionFall revival projects.  The nomenclature seems a bit involved to me; perhaps it would be best for me to avoid any specific references to any project, and to speak of the subject only in generalities.

    • I do know a little bit more than just Vlad "Dracula" Tepes.  Romania (which used to be called "Roumania" in English) was made up of a bunch of places like Wallachia and Moldavia and Transylvania, and the Romanians, Bulgarians, Germans, Hungarians, and Turks all fought to grab pieces of it, which was snatched back and forth among them like a prime steak thrown into a pride of lions.  I believe it was part of the Ottoman Empire and became a kingdom in the 1850's, was on the Allied side in World War I, had a queen named... Marie, I think, who was a famous and popular beauty, and that the country after World War II was controlled by the Communists until the Communist leader (whose name I could never spell) and his wife were finally shot.  Oh, and the capital is Bucharest and the Danube flows through it and it has a coast on the Black Sea.

That's actually more than I could probably tell anyone about Nebraska or Wyoming or Oregon.

I am a member of the Facebook page for one of the revival efforts already (under my real name), though I have remained more or less a lurker there. I am afraid I haven't much to offer except perhaps as a proof-reader if one is needed for any kind of texts.

Oh, and you can call me "Tann" if you like (or "John," though that is a lot less distinctive).  But then, like the man in "The Hunting of the Snark," I will

"...answer to 'Hi!' or to any loud cry,
Such as 'Fry me!' or 'Fritter my wig!'
      To 'What-you-may-call-um!' or 'What-was-his-name!'

    • I'm afraid that I will not be able to fully contribute to the project, however we can certainly give an idea to CN to hire a video game company and re-release FF on consoles. I mean, think about it. New artwork, new design, more levels, more missions, DLC, online multiplayer and offline single player...

What I'm saying is that it's nearly impossible to try and change CN's mind or try and revive the game through PC again. CN is a company. They need money. Console games sell out fast. If FF was released for PS4 and XBox One with cross-platform multiplayer, they would rake in lots of money, also known as the stuff they didn't have enough of the keep the game running!

    • One does have to consider that FusionFall is a kind of counter-advertising for Cartoon Network.  It keeps reminding everyone of their shows from the 1990's, when television animation was generally much better than it is now, and Cartoon Network in particular was producing its best stuff.  Being reminded of shows like Dexter's Lab and The Powerpuff Girls just makes shows like Steven Universe and Uncle Grandpa look very shabby in comparison. They may consider it worth their while to suppress the game, and to take advantage of the outcry against FusionFall: Heroes in comparison to it to suppress that as well, while saying, "See, we told you no one cared about Dexter and Johnny Bravo." (They do still seem to like the Powerpuff Girls, if this new movie is any indication.  Personally, I would have preferred them putting their energies into making the FusionFall movie instead!)

FusionFall: The Movie would be a great Idea tho I belive that It should have been recreated as a cartoon series .Think of that: FusionFall: The Series .

It could have been a all new cartoon about FusionFall that contained all dear to us inspired 100% from the game .(I could start telling you my 1000000 ideas but it would take too much and I belive that more than 50% of them are bad :D )

    • I think a movie would be much easier to accomplish than a series.  First off, the plot "the Kid from the Future" could easily be adapted for a film. (I can see a contest connected with that: the winner's character could be the protagonist of the film.) Second, a FusionFall series, since it would involve using the cartoon characters from other series, would tend to hinder their production; it would at least double the work of their various voice actors.  Third, while one movie with the CN characters in the vaguely animesque style used in the game would be interesting, one more anime-influenced series would be just one more anime-influenced series.  DeviantArt is crammed full with millions of anime/manga versions of CN characters.

Still, I am willing to be convinced.  I personally would love to learn your ideas, especially if you have art to illustrate them.   Tell me about them.  I warn you, though, you'll probably then have to listen to my 1,000,000 ideas!

I've seen it asserted here ("from fellers who've been talking like they know," as the song says) that there was a good solid reason that FusionFall was shut down.  Is there any good solid reason for believing that FusionFall in anything like an official form will return?  I mean, fan-made games are cool and all, but is there any reason for hope that CN itself might sponsor a revival?  Can anyone say with any actual evidence, one way or another?

    • Back from my mini-break; been busy playing BTDB and Cartoon Wars II (the latter is a free and awesome mobile game, although BTDB is also on mobile for free), and I haven't been hear to witness or be in the conversation for a while. Here is what I have to say (I read the previous posts; don't worry).

For the FusionFall movie and series ideas, I think that a movie would be better due to plot, inconsistencies with other series, and for cost (CN cares about that obviously).

For the evidence that FusionFall can come back in an official form, the evidence is loud and clear: The new PowerPuff Girls special (is it a movie?) that they made. This new movie shows that they are willing to invest money in remaking old shows that were previously taken off the air. A FusionFall movie would bring them three things: new viewers (they could have a reason to advertise it on other channels; I've seen it before), bring back old viewers (people who stopped watching CN because FF closed may come back to watch the movie), and bring them more money (more viewers = more money, correct?). However, I do not want to have to convince you guys about this. How about we convince CN? Maybe instead of making a petition (on change.org) to bring back our beloved game, FusionFall, we can make a petition to make a new FF movie and send it to CN along with info on how that would give them more viewers and money. That has more of a chance of working than asking them to bring the game back.

Now, I wanted to ask about progress on Project R 2.0. Is it starting to come together (in a good way)? Or is it lacking and will inevitably fail? Hopefully, the former is true, but I would still like to know either way.

    • THREE-STEP PLAN TO BRING BACK FUSIONFALL:

      1. Play reruns of the shows involved to interest the kids of this generation.

      2. If ratings do well, make a FusionFall film based on the original game.

      3. If all goes well, make like Clone Wars and contact Sony Online Entertainment (but be successful this time).

        Loading editor
    • It sounds like a good three-step plan for a network interested in bringing back FusionFall.  However, I have my doubts that Cartoon Network actually does want to bring it back, for reasons I have already mentioned above, among others.

By the way, I also doubt whether a petition, particularly an on-line petition, would have any kind of efficacy in returning the game.  Petitions are ineffective at the best of times, even in the public policy arena (which is what they are really designed for); on-line petitions are even more feeble and impotent, precisely because they are so easy.  If an on-line petition can't garner at least a thousand names just by being posted, it's not going to attract much notice from a company which has shown itself willing to offend its fans more than once.

I have a feeling that continual letter writing (especially if it were to involve 1. tangible paper-written letters and 2. examples of FusionFall inspired creativity (art, stories, cosplay pictures, even poems and songs)) would be a lot more effective than one-time, practically anonymous petition signing.  Cartoon Network has responded to such things before, I believe, and might again. Who knows?

Perhaps someone would like to submit a FusionFall movie script to Cartoon Network -- or, heck, maybe all of us could collaborate on one (with appropriate sketches) and send it to them.  Could be fun, eh?

    • Hmmm...if we were going to do a FusionFall movie, what would the script look like?  Do you think you would start with the manga, and then just take the parts of the game that gave the backstory?  (I presume most people prefer the story where the hero (or heroes) is sent to the Future when Dee Dee pushes the wrong button on Dexter's time machine..)  I think I would try to find a way to work in the footage from the trailers, too, if I were trying to sell a script to CN.

      PREQUELS:

Reruns of The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, Ben 10, Ben 10: Alien Force, Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Ed, Edd, and Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, The Life and Times of Juniper Lee, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Generator Rex, and Chowder (NOTE: These are the only shows crucial to the plot of the game.)

      EPISODE ONE: PROLOGUE, PART ONE

      NOTE: Multiple subplots

      Dexter builds Computress.

Buttercup is lost in a fight with Mojo Jojo and is found and recruited by Ace.

Utonium and the girls look for Buttercup.

Dexter discovers Fusion DNA in a sample under his microscope.

Fusion Samurai Jack is scouting the planet and encounters the real Jack. They fight, and Jack loses a sandal as the Fusion runs away with it.

Ben, as Big Chill, encounters Fusion Gwen. When he brings the real Gwen and Grandpa Max to see the body of the creature, it is gone. A Fusion spawn steals Gwen's sketchbook from her without her knowing. A giant Fusion comes up behind them. Ben sends Gwen and Max away, fending off the creature himself. Eventually, in Townville, his alien form wears out and he is left to run as his normal self, as seen in the beginning animation.

Fuse begins his invasion as Dexter readies his forces of DexBots.

MORE EPISODES TBA. EPISODE ONE IS BASED ON ALL BACKSTORIES MENTIONED.

    • So what? Can I say my idea?

        Loading editor
    • I think we are all interested in new ideas, and don't want to shut other people up.  We may not always agree on the ideas when we see them, but I am pretty sure that everybody is open to seeing them.  Please just remember that if someone else doesn't like or agree with your ideas, it's not a personal attack, just a difference of opinion. As long as everybody is polite and respectful of other people's ideas, I see no reason why one should hesitate to share one's own.

In terms of FusionFall being made into a movie or series, in actual possibility, neither is very likely.  On the other hand, I think a movie would be much more likely than a series, exactly because it is a one-time thing, that can easily be abandoned if unsuccessful.  A series locks a network in for at least a couple of weeks, unless it is such a disaster that it has to be gotten rid of immediately. Even Capitol Critters ran for thirteen episodes.  If the movie is successful, then the network might consider spinning off into a series. (The alternative, which makes so much sense that Cartoon Network (of course!) abandoned it, is an anthology show like What A Cartoon! that can test out various shorts as concepts for series.)

FusionFall was a great game, but it has one great flaw considered as a film or series concept: it has no strong central character(s).  As a game, when each player was the central character, the player's own interest in himself supplied that lack.  In a drama, however, the audience loses that personal interest by having the part of the hero taken, not by the player, but by some actor portraying a character.  That's all right, when the character itself is interesting. However, FusionFall had a main character whose personality was never strongly defined.  In the game, of course, that's an advantage, because every player can imagine the hero as himself or herself; however, in a drama, an undefined character is simply boring.

Of course, the writers could 1) come up with a character or characters to "be" "the kid from the Future" or 2) get rid of that character entirely and divide its functions up among the various established Cartoon Network characters (which is, in effect, what the manga did, by giving the backstory before the plot of the game itself actually began).  Unless I had an idea for new characters that I really believed in, I would probably choose the latter route, myself.

If I were a Cartoon Network story editor, Popsfootloose, considering your series idea, I'm not sure I wouldn't find your initial episode a bit over-complicated for a twenty-two minute episode (and a fortiori if one considers the new half-episode format that seems so popular on CN now).   I don't really think that Dexter needs to be shown building "Computress"; I think most viewers would take it as a given that she is just a normal upgrade to his computer. The Buttercup subplot is much more necessary in my opinion, though, again, I don't think most viewers need to be shown that Professor U. and the other girls would be looking for Buttercup. I am a little confused by the chronology of the rest of your ideas. Do they take place before or after the events of the manga?  If before, they pretty much contradict it; if after, I think it would be necessary to show what happens in "Worlds Collide" to all the viewers who had never read it, and they would take up most of the first episode, wouldn't they?

Considered in of themselves, the DNA scene would presumably be part of a larger scene; a line or two of dialogue would probably cover it.  I don't quite see the story function of the Samurai Jack scene, though a good fight is always appreciated; doubtless it would become clearer in a full story treatment.  The Ben scene makes good sense, though one has to be very careful about guys fighting girls (even monster girls!) and showing "bodies" -- there are always viewers out there who are just looking to be offended!  You'd have to make sure that Fusion Gwen attacked first, and that she was more or less a mindless pile of goo in reality, to keep from driving Standards & Practices crazy.  It's a pain, but it's something that networks have to take into consideration.

Rex, I am not sure whether you are referring to the idea of a movie or series based on FusionFall or some sort of revival as a game.  There are actually several websites devoted to the last already.  A website devoted to the first two might be pretty interesting; I hope if one is made that I see it and can go play there too.

Okay, that's more than enough of me for now....

    • Meh. It was a rough draft. lol

Anyways, Worlds Collide took place in a universe where Ben was still in his first series. The universe that CN used was the one in Alien Force.

        Loading editor
    • Heh, that's what story conferences are for, eh? To smooth out rought drafts?

Yeah, the point you raise about which Ben 10 series would be the background of the story is exactly the sort of thing that the story editor would have to decide.  I'm not surprised that CN decided to go with the later series;  it's always a good idea to keep your background as up to date as possible, especially if, as I suspect, the game was meant in part as advertisement for CN's new stuff as well as their old.  (I don't think it's entirely coincidental that the game was shut down after the players showed themselves vehemently opposed to including newer characters like Johnny Test.)

If there were a series, I would like to see an episode in which Dexter's Time Machine transports the main characters (whoever they might be) into the "past," where they would meet characters like Space Ghost and the Herculoids, Dick Dastardly and Muttley, Jonny Quest, the Blue Falcon and Dynomutt, and the Flintstones. I really enjoyed it when Dynomutt showed up on Dexter's Lab and Scooby-Doo on Johnny Bravo and Space Ghost on Batman Brave and the Bold. It gives a nice sense of continuity. (Of course, I am not sure how I would feel about crossing over with Droopy or the Loony Tunes characters, much less any kind of anime.  I don't really remember any crossovers of that kind on classic Cartoon Network shows of the Nineties.)

        Loading editor
    • yeah, I guess you're right. I wasnt tryin to destroy your idea, as I was just thinking of a way to combine them both. But, in our need for the game, maybe we should think about that a little bit further, as nobody new will watch the movie, if they have never heard of the game.

    • Hey I made a sketch of my idea:  A FIONNA NANO

Heres how the quest would work: You're in the Cul-De-Sac. In what looks like a book stand made of ice, Ice King is standing to the left of it. When you get to level 12, he'll have a nano quest for Fionna. The quest will be called: Gender Opposites Attract. (If anyone has a better idea for the name, please tell me) When you accept the quest, Ice King will tell you that one of the copies off his fan-fiction book: Fionna and Cake, was stolen by Fusion Ice King. His Fusion-self went through a strange teleporter through his book stand. When you click on the book stand, you will have the options to Enter or Cancel. When you click enter, you will be transported to a version of Ooo, called Aaa, where everyone is a gender opposite of themselves. Ice King gives you a message that  says you're in his book.

If you guys approve of this idea, I'll finish writing the quest.

      A FIONNA NANO!

    • I like your idea a lot, Rexx, except for one aspect of it.  Why should the Ice King be in the Cul-De-Sac?  I don't quite see the reason to remove him from his ice palace for one mission; indeed, it seems to me that it would much more naturally be launched from the one location in FusionFall that is drawn from Adventure Time.  After all, the Ice King is a wizard; it stands to reason that his palace would contain a magic portal or two.  You'd just have to change "book stand" to "book case," and the thing is done -- those shelves next to the door when players first enter the palace always had been crying out for some in-game function.  It seems to me it would be the perfect way to transport players to Aaa.

Cute Nano picture, by the way.  I think I'd like to see a colored version; it would show up better.

        Loading editor
    • Well, I do see your point about the Ice King in the Cul-De-Sac. But, I've noticed that we don't have anyone representing Adventure Time there. And since the people there usually have somewhat of a purpose, I thought it would just fit perfectly that Ice King would be unsuccessfully trying to sell his fan-fiction of Finn and Jake. Plus, I excpect that no other character would fit in the Cul-De-Sac, except Ice King. Also, I'm not sure it would make sense in his palace, as why would someone sell his book if he wasn't selling it. Also, he's only an Ice Wizard, so he probably couldn't make a portal there, because if he could, he would've already done it in a  previous episode.Oh, and he wouldn't be way from his palace, as he would be in both areas, like many other characters.

Oh, and I made the colored Fionna Nano like you asked.

      Fionna

      It does show up better

Instead of a movie or a TV series, I was thinking it could be a series of fan fiction stories based on the game

There is only one part that you guys won't like. The events of FusionFall in my fanfic take place in an altered C.N.U timeline created by the Robot Chicken (har har har). Some of the new changes in the C.N.U are:

Dexter getting the lab as a birthday present

The PPG were born at an infant age

The Omnitrix was originally meant for Ben's dad (Ben still gets it)

Aku only took over Japan; Samurai Jack was sent to present day America

Finn the Human was adopted by Jake's family at age 9

Johnny Test gets genius intellect as he gets older Well...you get it

However, the Nickelodeon universe was some how merged into the C.N.U as well, sorry guys, really!

Note: If this idea isn't accepted, then it's cool, I can think up some other way and at the same time, work on my own fanfic

The whole point of Dexter's Lab is to hide it from his parents while his sister unintentionally tries to prevent the lab being secret.

PPG, well, I could see that.

No more boom-boom or dancing baby Finn? Aw...

Johnny Test is now a competitor with both Dexter and Mandark.

No idea how Nickelodeon got into this, but now Crimson Chin establishes the idea of super heroes instead of actual ones. Multiple types of magic, though the idea is shown already, now exist, making it odd that nobody has ever mentioned anything about Fairy World from the Underworld before. Jenny is now a superhero competitor with PPG. Jimmy Neutron is now a competitor with all three boy geniuses metioned previously, making Goddard look like a toy.

If this is an alternate reality with the real ones existing outside of it, this is completely evil of the chicken. I love it.

If not, though, it makes little sense.

    • I really like your Fionna Nano, Rex.  Cuteness overload.

Whether there is an Adventure Time character in the Cul-De-Sac or not depends on whether you regard the Magical Toadstool (or the frog sitting on it) a "character" or not. Obviously there are none of the main characters there, so if that matters to you, I suppose the Ice King is as good a character as any. (Over at FanonFall someone suggested Marceline's Dad in a very similar function, though only as a vendor like Dracula for a seasonal event.) I agree, there's not really much problem with him being in two places; Finn is in five different ones, I believe (Providence HQ, Mt. Neverest, the Mystery Dungeon, Orchid Bay, and the basement of the Ice King's palace). I don't know whether Ice WIzard powers include making ice portals or not, but I'd guess that if I.K. could get his Demonic Wishing Eye back from Gunter a portal would be within its capacities.  I agree that I.K. trying to sell his Fionna and Cake fan fictions is a hilarious idea, but the fact that trying to sell it from his palace rather than a public place makes it only funnier to me; besides, I do hope you are not expecting the Ice King to start making sense at this late date. I can imagine Finn calling him out on it. "Dude -- you're trying to sell your lame stories from your own basement."  "So what's your point, Finn?"

Well, Astroarnav, if you are talking fan fictions, let me refer again to this wiki's FanonFall sister site, where such speculations have their natural home.  There's no particular reason that you should feel that you have to pin yourself to anyone else's continuity; after all, nothing is canon except canon, and FusionFall doesn't even seem to have any fanon (using that term in its proper sense of "ideas accepted by a large number of fans though not supported by canon"). Of course, one can't really speculate about fan fictions, because in the fan fic world, anything goes; there is no one to say what should or shouldn't be in a particular fic.  You could make Dexter an avatar of the god Vishnu or make a crossover between the Powerpuff Girls and Gone With The Wind, and there would be no one to say you nay.

On the other hand, if one were actually suggesting a series or film with an actual possiblity for being made to Cartoon Network, I am  afraid that a crossover with Nick is very, very far from the realm of likelihood.  Cartoon Network has no desire to advertise a rival network.

As for the changes, per se, I tend to like things to stay the way they are in canon.  I don't see the need to change something when I already like it, except for aspects that have proven to be problematic, like, say, the lack of Soulo shells in the Numbuh Two Nano mission (which, of course, affects only the game and not a possible series or movie adaptation).  Of course, in this context, I will admit to a personal detestation of Robot Chicken, so you can take my opinion on that account with a grain of salt.

That is why I had to make a separate wiki for my stories. I couldn't really fit it into FanonFall wiki because it had so many other characters that I didn't need.

Also the reason why Nickelodeon comes into the picture is because they have personal experience with gooey aliens of their own.

P.S. I forget, what does "a grain of salt" mean?

        Loading editor
    • "With a grain of salt" (originally a Latin phrase, "cum  grano salis," but well established in English) means, figuratively, "not absolutely, only in certain respects, with some reservations, only insofar as is acceptable, with exceptions, bearing some important circumstances in mind." The idea is that the statement needs "seasoning."

I think you do less than justice to yourself and to your fellow fans in thinking that those reading your writing on FanonFall would not be able to separate your FusionFall continuity from those of other fan authors. I think it becomes pretty clear that there are a number of inconsistent timelines behind each particular fan fiction there. However, I respect your choice to present your fictions only under the conditions you feel best suited to their appreciation.

As I said, there's not much point trying to analyze any person's fan fiction except in terms of being congruent with canon or not -- and you've already stipulated that you were changing certain aspects of the game -- i.e., being non-canon-compliant. Bearing that in mind, I have no problem with you crossing over with Nick, or with Disney, or with Studio Ghibli, or with whomever you please; your fiction is your own.

MY GOD THAT TOOK ME AN HOUR.

Anyway, I suggest you all get back on topic. It's been 4 months since this thread was started and I currently see no real progress.

    • Is this thread confined exclusively to "remaking FusionFall [in the form of a fan-built game]," then?  In that case, I could start a separate thread about film/series speculation, and leave this clear for discussing those efforts, which are rather outside my field of competence. Anything to oblige!

    • Meh. I think we're done on the fan-made game idea. You can make that thread and I'll make one about if CN should go to SOE.

      Thanks Tann

Also if Fusionfall was to be made into a live action movie, I would recommend Rupert Grint as Dexter and Ryan Kelley as Ben 10

        Loading editor
    • Kelley pretty much has the Ben 10 rôle sewn up already, doesn’t he?  As to Grint, I’d need to hear whether he can do a cheesy German accent before I could agree.

    • I probably assumed Dexter’s accent was Teutonic on the basis of his famous phrase « omelette du fromage » from “The Big Cheese” episode of Dexter’s Laboratory.  Although the phrase itself is (incorrect) French (the proper form should be « omelette au fromage »), Christine Cavanaugh consistently pronounces the « du » as if it contained a German u-umlaut; at one point the cartoon actually puts up a title that says “Just Dü It.”  French possesses the sound (a “close front rounded vowel”), but does not use the u-umlaut; Russian does not seem to possess the sound at all (and, naturally, the u-umlaut does not appear in the Cyrillic alphabet). Of course, Dexter’s accent is not consistently French, German, Russian, or anything, but just vaguely European.  My only point is, I have never heard Rupert dü any kind of accent at all.

I’m not sure what you mean by “underlying bias towards Harry Potter,” Fusionbioformer — whether you mean for or against, and to whom you are attributing it. Perhaps you would care to elaborate a bit on that statement?

    • Ah, well, I agree with that, in large part.  I am strongly opposed to the casting of celebrities in parts simply because they are celebrities (particularly in animation, when there are so many talented voice actors out there).  Rupert seems like a likeable young man with a fair amount of talent for comedy, but no more suitable to the part of Dexter than Prince Harry or Lucille Ball.  Of course, sometimes the celebrity actor turns out to be surprisingly good (as with, say, Peter O'Toole in Ratatouille).  That's why I said I'd have to hear what R.G. could do with the part, before I said "yes" or "no."

    • Back to my Fionna Nano, I wanted to include that quest in the Cul-De-Sac so that players who aren't too high leveled can obtain the Fionna Nano- Rexx102 aka Ty Verticalzombie

    • Maybe I misunderstood, Rex, but I thought you said the Ice King was only a vendor character.  They don't usually give out missions, do they?  Personallly, if I wanted to give out the Fionna mission in the Cul-De-Sac (and I can see your reasons for doing so), I would simply add the mission on to the Magical Toadstool's list after the player had finished the "So You Want To Be A Hero?" series.  Of course, this is YOUR re-imagining of the game, so you could have any character you wanted, the Ice King or the Toadstool or Xergiog or Abraham Lincoln or whoever.

Well, Fusionbioformer -- would it be insulting if I called you FBF? Your handle "as is" is a little cumbrous -- let's defer that discussion to the movie thread.  I've been bad about sticking to the thread topic, and I don't want to lure anyone else into OT conversations, either.

Some shows (in my world) were excluded from the Nickelodeon portion, including Spongebob, the Fairly Oddparents, Jimmy Neutron. Jenny doesn't exactly exist on Earth One (my world's name), she exists on the Bleedman Universe, which I have designated as Earth-13. The only time Jenny interacts with the PPG is during the end of my storyline, in which Earth-One and Earth-13 merge and conduct the Final battle between humans and fusions. The only existing Nickelodeon Characters on Earth-One are the characters of Invader Zim (my favorite Nick show). The Crimson Chin guy from Fairly Oddparents was just......wrong, so I got rid of him too.

    • If we are talking about Cartoon Network re-making the game (which I hope, but I doubt, they will do), then only Cartoon Network characters (or its affiliates') are likely to be used.  If one is talking about a fan-made work, then whoever makes it will stick in whatever characters they like, regardless of anyone else's opinion.  (That's one reason I would vastly prefer Cartoon Network to re-make the game.)

    • Well, sure we do; but if you want that, tell Cartoon Network and (even more importantly) its sponsors.

        Loading editor
    • See that is the problem. None of the CN Sponsors listen to us (Yet they still listen to a 6 year old kid from a fan competition). Its as if they don't care whether they attract an audience at all, they just want money.

        Loading editor
    • Of course they want money.  They're a business; they HAVE to make money, otherwise their wives and kids have nothing to eat and they have to quit their current jobs and go take a position at the Wal-Mart down the street.  And I have to admit, if I were getting the kind of messages that I have seen Cartoon Network getting from FusionFall fans, (e.g., THEY NEED TO BRING THIS MMO BACK LIKE RIGHT NOW I LOVED THAT GAME AND I AM VERY MAD ABOUT FUSION FALL CLOSING! ), I wouldn't be much inclined to listen to them, either.

The problem is to show CN and its sponsors that it would help THEM to bring FusionFall back in some form.  Frankly, I don't think that we fans have been all that serious or effective at that task;  I have seen lots of blaming, lots of complaining, lots of bickering, and very little real encouragement to CN.  Having an audience is worthless to them if it's an audience that brings only unpleasantness with no real advantage.  I certainly wouldn't want to do much for someone who tells me that everything I'm doing now is wrong, and didn't even compliment me much when I was doing what that person liked -- and that's how way too many FF fans come across.
